It is not always a life of milk and honey in the United States.
A number of Filipinos living in Las Vegas, Nevada have reportedly lost their jobs following mass layoffs by companies in the area.
Sources said 8.9 percent of the working force in Clark County are jobless.
Elizabeth Janolino, an emergency room coordinator who was laid off by her company in October 2013, said she is doing her best to look for a job since she had three kids to support. She said life is hard for her family as of late since she and her husband are both unemployed.
Janolino is hoping unemployment benefits will be extended by the government to the jobless residents like her.
Meanwhile, Nevada’s Senate Majority Floor Leader Harry Reid revealed that Democrats are planning to extend for three months the unemployment payments of millions of beneficiaries whose benefits expired last December.
He said the Obama administration will meet with a group of CEOs and other leaders to talk about the best way to incorporate unemployed Americans back into the workforce.
